The cover design happened in collaboration with Charles Mercado, and we re-used the stained glass window from Closing the Circle: Pursah’s Gospel of Thomas and A Course in Miracles. The stained glass window was a painting by Samuel Augustin. Closing the Circle represents a window on how Jesus spoke before his speech and the narrative around him were edited by those who came after and made a Christian out of him.
The new book explores Jesus in many of the traditions outside of Christianity, which highlight different aspects of him.
Below are some bullet points to explain the image:
- The Sun breaks through the clouds
- A ray hits the face of Jesus in the stained glass window, which is on the cover of Closing the Circle, and representing a window to the Pre-Pauline Jesus of the Thomas Gospel.
- It radiates back out into the center of the picture where the figure of Jesus now appears.
- And the light radiates out from him into the darkness of the world.
- This is the risen Jesus, and we see Golgotha fading into the distance
